Chiropractic Care:
Chiropractic was developed in 1895 by Daniel David Palmer. It encompasses many techniques. Chiropractic is a form of natural health care that focuses on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of biomechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The philosophy states that these disorders can greatly affect general health by affecting the nervous system. Spinal adjustments remove the compromise of an imbalanced nervous system. It is an art, science, and philosophy. The art portion is what makes all practitioners unique.
Applied Kinesiology:
Applied kinesiology was developed in 1973 by George J Goodheart who was a chiropractor. This therapy is both diagnostic and therapeutic. To easily explain the way this therapy works, please consider the following metaphor. Applied Kinesiology can be related to the electrical system in a house. Your spinal cord and vertebral column is like a curcuit breaker box, and all the wires that exit from the breaker box are like the 31 pairs of nerves that exit from the spine. With only 31 pairs of nerves, there is shared innervation to muscles and organs. The rooms in the house are equivalent to the muscles and organs. If the upstairs bathroom light isn’t working, is it necessarily the light bulb, the fixture, or the switch? Or can the problem be anywhere from the bulb back to the breaker box? When we muscle test we are looking for the short circuit. Once we find where the compromise is located, the body can be compared to a road map. There are multiple pathways that need to be taken in order to resolve the cause of the short circuit and only then can the breaker be reset. This is how we treat people as an individual, just because one pathway is best for an individual doesn’t mean it is the best for you. There are many relationships in the body that coincide with seemingly unrelated areas. Therefore, we will treat your body as a whole, assessing and correcting each patient from head to toe. It can be a single area or multiple areas that need to be balanced in order to regain and maintain health.
